Registration page now more flexible

The registration page can now have 'unnessary' fields hidden to make it more flexible for website owner's who believe that clients will feel more inclined to register on their site if they are confronted with less fields.

Often we are asked if one or other field can be taken off the regsitration page by website owners or prospective clients. When we explain that only the fields with asterixs need filling in (First Name, Last Name, Email Address and Telephone Number) most are happy that they can potentially gain more details about their prospective clients using our system.

However, occasionally we have to explain further about the importance of gaining good marketing data about the people visiting and using your website and show how in reality almost every one of our client's customers seem quite happy to provide quite sensitive data when prompted.

Nevertheless, sometimes we encounter a client who has less interest in good marketing and just wants to make their site easy to use - regardless of the potential loss of future business/sales opportunities. For these clients we have made the registration page more flexible.

There is now a button called 'Edit Settings' on the Registration page that pops open a window which allows you to hide or show fields on your Registration page easily.

Our advice is 'do not hide any fields', because many years of experience has shown us that the more data you collect, the better off your marketing efforts will be.

This upgrade has been added free-of-charge to your website thanks to our ongoing Free Upgrades policy.

don't call it a New Years resolution (too late for that anyway), ...
Monitor your site activity
Monitor the performance of your site by visiting "Site" in the top menu bar and "View Site Activity" on the drop down menu. You'll see which pages are the most visited ones and how many sessions and hits you had. But what gives you more valuable information - sessions or hits?
To spec or not to spec; that is the question.
A very interesting debate has opened up over whether detailed specifications should be drawn up first before writing software. This has been fueled by a comment made by Linus Torvalds (pictured) - the man who first wrote and developed Linux (the only real competition to Microsoft's operating systems like Windows).
